We started out by labeling a map. We colored each of the regions a different color, added a key and then labeled each of the colonies.

Foldable Friday: Area Formulas

Even though my 6th graders get to use a formula sheet for their state test, I still wanted them to have a reference to put in their notebooks. We created this interactive foldable graphic organizer to write the formulas for the area of a rectangle, parallelogram, triangle and trapezoid.

You can see in this one where they included the different ways you might see a triangle labeled.

Foldable Friday: Circles

We started our geometry unit with circles. Since my fifth graders didn't have much background knowledge on circles, I created this interactive foldable graphic organizer  and poster set.  I started out introducing the different part of the circle, so that they could then apply that knowledge to finding the diameter or radius when given the other one.

Here is the outside.

Here are several examples of what my students did on the inside.

These are the posters that they got their information from.

If you like this set, you can get it in my TpT store. Just click on the picture below.

How I Store Student Data Folders and Weekly Reports

I think most of us have to keep student data folders nowadays. Our district also wants us to give out weekly reports to the students. I keep both of them in these storage crates from Ikea. They are the perfect size to fit into the space that I have and stack very nicely.
